Bandung, February 1, 2023 – Public Lecture "Intellectual Property As An Enabler Of Sustainability And Climate Change" at GAP lt.8 Maranatha Christian University.
The Management Department at the Faculty of Business, Maranatha Christian University recently held a public lecture with the theme of "Intellectual Property As An Enabler Of Sustainability And Climate Change" on February 1, 2023 at the 8th Floor GAP Theater Room. The activity chaired by Dr. Peter, S.E., M.T along with several other fellow lecturers was held to provide understanding and insight into intellectual property, and how intellectual property could be a strong foundation in supporting the sustainability of an organization; moreover, contributing to addressing climate change.
In this public lecture, two experts in the field of intellectual property and sustainability (SDGs) were presented, namely Prof. John Lee from The Renmin University of China, Shenzhen and Ms. Juniati Gunawan Ph.D as the head of the Trisakti University Sustainability Center. In this public lecture, the speakers discussed the importance of intellectual property in supporting the sustainability of an organization, and how it can be used as a driving force for change in dealing with climate change.
This public lecture activity which was carried out in a hybrid manner (online and onsite) and was attended by hundreds of students, lecturers, and employees of Maranatha Christian University, as well as several invited guests from educational institutions and related organizations. In this event, participants were also given the opportunity to discuss and ask the speakers about the topics discussed.
The purpose of this public lecture activity was to provide insight and understanding regarding intellectual property, the sustainability of an organization in carrying out operational activities and achieving the vision and mission of the organization, especially Maranatha Christian University.
The material presented in this public lecture is very important considering that intellectual property can be one of the most valuable intangible assets for an organization. In the era of sustainability, more and more organizations are aware of the importance of intellectual property and pay attention to its management. Therefore, it is important for an organization to improve their intangible assets in the era of sustainability. They must pay attention to the protection of their intellectual property rights, develop strategies to utilize and maximize the value of their intangible assets, and consider the environmental impact of their operations. By doing these things, an organization can strengthen their sustainability and also contribute to fighting climate change.
It is hoped that this public lecture will be useful, especially for the family of Maranatha Christian University to realize the importance of managing intellectual property which can be a key factor in supporting the sustainability of an organization in an era of sustainability. Also, it is important to implement a green campus as one of the factors that also supports government programs in the environment, in terms of the use of energy that is right on target and efficient, a comfortable atmosphere in the learning process, and enhancing the reputation of the campus.
